Prayer

Prayer as Part of Therapy

I honor your spiritual and religious beliefs. That means I will never impose my beliefs on you, the client.

As a Christian,  I offer the following forms of Christian prayer to any client. I use prayer to bring freedom to the spirit of the individual. This is part of the goal of therapy which is to bring freedom to the body, soul, and spirit. All clients, regardless of your spiritual beliefs are welcome to utilize the power of Christian prayer I offer to bring freedom and reconciliation to yourself.

SOZO PRAYER

What is Sozo?
Sozo is an inner healing prayer model that was developed by Bethel Church in Redding, California.  It is not counseling but a prayer encounter designed to get you more fully connected to God, to yourself, and others. Instead of telling you what we think you should do about a situation, we help you hear from God as to what He thinks about you, others in your life and your situations.

The word “Sozo” is a Greek word in the New Testament that is applied to the body, soul, or spirit. It is translated as “saved”, “healed” or “delivered”. It is not unusual for recipients to receive physical, emotional, or spiritual healing as they hear directly from God. (Mk. 5:34)

During that time we will allow the Spirit of God to lead us to blocks within ourselves, relationships with others, and with God.  We use a variety of prayers such as forgiveness, generational cleansing, undoing negative words, and experiences that hurt us. The focus of the prayer is to experience greater spiritual and emotional freedom and a more life-giving relationship with God.  The function of Sozo is to move you closer to your personal goals for counseling.

What if I am not able to hear God’s voice?
Every Christian that has received the Holy Spirit has automatically built into themselves the voicebox of God.  If you don’t experience the voice of the Holy Spirit that is fine. Every Christian has the capacity to hear the Holy Spirit and yet there may be obstacles in the way of hearing clearly.   The Sozo process often helps to open up communication with the Holy Spirit. (Rev. 3:20, Jn. 8:47, Jn. 10:27-28, Jn. 14:26, Jn. 33:14, Mk. 4:24)

How does Sozo and counseling work together?
In a typical counseling session is 50 minutes in duration.  Sozo may last one-quarter of the session or more.

What Sozo Does Not Include
Sozo is not guided imagery.  If God will speak or reveal himself in a Sozo session it will be because the client asked God a question and received a response directly to the client.

Sozo does not focus on open meditation.  The only focus of the session in prayer is on the Godhead, the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Can I receive Sozo Prayer if I do not have the Christian faith?
Regardless of your faith, you are welcome to receive Sozo prayer.

If you have further questions about Sozo, feel free to email or call my office.

HEARTSYNC PRAYER

Heartsync is a prayer model that incorporates prayer and psychotherapy. When an individual experiences painful relationships or events in the early years of life they learn to survive by enacting behaviors that protect themselves.  Anger is one behavior that is protective.

These behaviors become expressions of a broken heart.  The heart develops guardians to protect painful emotions. While the breaking of the heart may have occurred in childhood, it is expressed in adulthood. Some symptoms of a broken heart are the fear of people, emotional shutdown, obsessive, or excessive anger. The expressions of the broken heart are many and varied.

When the heart is healed then the individual feels more whole, stable, and at peace. The person is in control of their behaviors and operates out of a place of peace within themselves.  The individual is not reactive or easily offended.

In the Bible, we find the prophet Isaiah declares that Jesus the savior would come to heal the brokenhearted.

Isaiah 61:1- The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,

The Heartsync journey of healing is founded on a spiritual connection with God.  Each Heartsync starts with a connection with God. He is very available to meet you at your place of need. The prayer process facilitates your connection with God. It is God’s presence that heals the brokenhearted.

Heartsync is for anyone who wants to feel more whole and grounded. Having a broken heart is not the end of your story or something you must live with. There is hope in Jesus healing you. We are here to facilitate your healing.

IMMANUEL PRAYER

The primary goal in an Immanuel Prayer session is to connect with God and enjoy being with Him. This intimate connection with God often leads to healing, counsel, and deliverance, which are secondary benefits to being with God in His presence. Connecting with Him in a tangible way comes before anything else. Intimacy with Jesus is the goal.

Immanuel Prayer is developed on the reliability of God’s nature as Immanuel, which in Hebrew means “God with us” (Isaiah 7:14). By His very character, He is always everywhere, personally present. That means God was with us before we were Christians and even during our worst moments. It means that God is with us now, wherever we are, and will always be with us.
